2020 Arnold Amateur
Open Wellness Championships
(Columbus, Ohio - March 5, 2020)
One of the most prestigious IFBB Pro Qualifiers in the world is the Arnold Amateur.
As part of the Arnold Sports Festival, it attracts visitors from all over the world. In a last minute move to err on the side of
caution regarding health threats and public safety (ie. coronavirus), it was decided to not allow the general public audience into any of the amateur events.
The trade show/expo had been cancelled as well. So that's how this reporter's first Arnold Classic experience played out. With the size of
these divisions/classes, thought we'd just dedicate an entire report page to just the one Wellness Open category. We covered the amateur
events for Muscle Insider Magazine and there is extensive content there including individual photos from prejudging and pretty much everything from finals. The links to those galleries are below. This page
is meant to summaraize the competition with all the key results presented in a simple way!

To the actual competition...only a single point separated first and second in Class 'A'. Both Francielle Mattos and Isabelle Nunes exemplified the category but only one
could proceed to the overall round and become an IFBB Pro at this competition. I'm sure Isabelle will get there soon...a perfect candidate for the 'petition' process in
our humble opinion, not unprecedented! Class 'B' was quite competitive as well, Lorena Ragusa taking the title there. Of note was 4th placer Caroline Batilani who we
first encountered at the NPC Legends Classic, basically this reporter's introduction to the Wellness Category.
