2016 ABBA Alberta Provincials - Part 1
Bodybuilding, Figure, Classic Physique & Women's Physique Championships
(Edmonton, AB - June 25, 2016)
ABBA Alberta Provincials has always been a marquis show to attend and cover. For many years being held in Edmonton, it will see a
change of venue in 2017 to Calgary (same weekend), so mark your calendars! The long 6.5 hour 'morning' session featured the divisions
with posing routines plus Figure. Speaking of which, Figure always brings out some of the best calibre athletes in the
country, a healthy mix of veterans and newcomers, the future in this discipline looks very bright. Class 'D' and Overall winner Ainsley Chaluk's
incredible V-taper along with chiseled muscle separation will easily vault her into the top tier of National rankings very quickly.
In Class 'D', a balanced Kristina Zach took the title, very tight conditioning for second and third placers Alison Lindsay and
Jennifer Reese respectively, both of whom this reporter has known for many years, a very nice surprise. Coming up the rankings
for sure are fourth and fifth placers Helen Wang and Ashley Cutforth, beautiful symmetry and they're only getting better! Those
two classes were the largest here, but the winners of 'A' and 'B' compared well to them during the overalls.

Women's Physique was dominated by Kyla Schamahorn, winning Masters, Class 'A' and of course Overall. Good improvements in runnerup
Kim Byam (A Class). Chandra Krause posed nicely winning 'B' Class.

Good classes in Men's Bodybuilding, Middleweight winner Sam Jasim had the complete package to win overall.

Women's Bodybuilding, although not as popular as it once was, still gave us a great champion in Tanya Mah.
|
The new Classic Physique Division saw a healthy turnout in 2 strong classes, definitely a crowd
favorite going forward.
