2020 NPC Arizona Women's Extravaganza Bodybuilding, Physique, Fitness, Figure, Wellness & Bikini Championships (Scottsdale, AZ - December 5, 2020) ! In a year that's seen more ups and downs than one could imagine, especially with holding physique competitions, a glimmer of hope here and there. This NPC show was held in conjunction with the good folks at Wings of Strength and promoter Tim Gardner who annually host an all women's event for the IFBB Pro League. This reporter had the unexpected but good fortune to be able to cover it for our friends at Muscle Insider. So while an NPC amateur event is not par for THEIR course, thought we'd give them a shout out with a quick report on my own website. Some bright lights coming out of this competition included Bikini Overall Champion Ariel Barley and Novice Bikini Champion Brooklin Bade. Both combine photogenic looks with some serious muscle! Brooklin had some tough competition in her Open Class from well prepared and polished Marie Holst...another competitor to keep an eye on. Bikini requires more than just 'toned', all 3 are on the right path. And speaking of phenomenal physiques, Masters competitor and Class A winner Rosita Nurpriadi looked 'lean and mean'...in a good way of course. And judging from the eager competitors who sought judges feedback at the end of the night, this group of athletes will no doubt be heard from in the not too distant future. A double threat in Figure, Meryl Haines also took the Fitness title...two spirited competitors in that division. The new category of Wellness saw different looks enterd...Cassie Norton (40+) sported some solid muscle and good definition, but perhaps didn't fit the category as envisioned? Impressive nevertheless. A bodybuilding/women's physique competitor who'll no doubt turn more heads was Marilyn Yee, muscle shapes and symmetry for the sport "to die for", stay tuned!
