2017 BCABBA British Columbia Provincial
Bodybuilding, Fitness, Physique, Figure, & Bikini Championships - Day 2
(Vancouver, B.C. - July 8-9, 2017)
Day 2 of BCABBA Provincial Championships started with what's usuually the finale of most shows, namely Bikini. And while it soared to stellar heights,
Figure took center stage in a big way with that division's upcoming Nationals in a few short weeks. Cara Roberts left no doubt she's back and ready
for the next level. I believe already qualified for Nationals in Masters class, brought a chiseled physique here to claim the Overall Open title. Of note
were the Masters Class winners, Jo-Ann Huber and Michelle Troll...both comebacks of sorts. Impressive other open class winners in Crystal Carbert and
Jessica Middler-Hernandez, plus in the very improved category were Maria Ford and Mandy Urner to name a couple. Then there's J-me Hannay with a return
to competition plus Pamela Bartock qualifying for Nationals after her return to competition at the Leigh Brandt Muscle Classic.

Bikini had a number of storylines with an impressive group of Tier One overall winners gunning for that lifetime bye to Nationals. In a feel good
story (and well deserved), Tonya Olson returned from a disappointing Nationals a week earlier to dial it in nicely for Provincials. It'll be a year
or so till all these champions take to the National stage, BC will have a great Bikini Team in 2018.

Men's Physique had four strong open classes, Jonathan Datu taking the Overall title.

Masters Bikini was well participated as usual, with a number of competitors qualified in Open Classes too. Overall Masters
Champion Jody Andrews particularly stood out, taking third in one of the toughest Open Classes (D) won by the very much
improved (and photogenic) Maxine Somov with equally stunning Brandie Mabee placing 2nd.
