2016 CBBF National
Fitness, Figure & Physique Championships
(New Westminster, B.C. - August 13, 2016)
Long time promoters Leigh and Dean Brandt of Xtreme Promotions brought this
prestigious event back to the West Coast. 300 plus athletes from across the
nation brought their very best to vie for those IFBB Pro Cards.
A different configuration for CBBF shows starting in 2016, a more manageable size
with Bikini shifted and paired up with Bodybuilding and Classic Physique (held
earlier in the summer). Lots of action though, starting with Fitness. Margherita
Di Bari shone onstage both with her routine and physique, she'll make a great Pro!
Coincidentally, last year's coverage on this website included additional photos
from just one competitor...guess who?

Once again, Women's Physique did not disappoint. Last year's Tall class winner,
Emilija Martic gave her look and presentation a running start to the IFBB Pro
ranks this year, well deserved 'C' class and overall win! Masters Overall was taken by
Claudia Martellino who also won her Open 'A' class. In the end, 2 Pro Cards were handed out for
the category same as last year. Very honorable mention to 'B' Class winner Ceejay Byam
who will certainly join that club in the not too distant future!

Entertaining routines throughout, Best Poser award was handed to Alethia Legall-Gabriel.
Large classes of up to 20 competitors in both Masters and Open Divisions shows the
rising enthusiasm for Women's Physique going forward. Men's Physique has very
healthy interest in it as well, photos below.

The quality in Figure was beyond what we have seen in the past, and extremely competitive!
There were quite a few competitors in both Open and Masters classes who excelled in
both, the years of training were evident, not normally are 'newbies' quick to rise to the top.
Beautiful size, muscle definition and proportionality on Overall Open champ Tessa-Rae Nedelec,
a great choice to represent the country. BC's Maria Sharp received the additional Pro Card,
she'd won Open Class 'E'. Two were handed out in Masters, Tina Power who won overall as
well as Janelle Samson.

Another Canadian Nationals has come and gone, a pleasure to cover as usual.
The CBBF is ever expanding the opportunities for growth, a new Pro Qualifier
event 'The IFBB Ben Weider Legacy Cup' will be inaugurated in the Fall of 2016.
