2017 CBBF National
Fitness, Figure & Physique Championships
(Surrey, B.C. - July 29, 2017)

Nicki Dery - 1st Place Overall - Open/Masters Figure
A great collaboration of promoters, Tamara Knight and Jeni Briscoe put on an amazing event. Held at the same venue as Tamara's "Knight of Champions" show (it's third year being on September 9, 2017), the experience showed. And with Jeni being the promoter of the Northern Classic in Fort St. John, a definite formula for success. Approximately 220 athletes (with about 50 of them in multiple classes) graced the stage. The finale at this event is Figure, Alberta's Nicki Dery took Overall in both Open and Masters Divisions. To even win a class at this show truly meant being in phenomenal condition. A second Pro card was awarded to Class 'C' winner Catherine Lavoie of Quebec.
Women's Physique Overall - Alyssa Coppolino
What can one say about Alyssa Coppolino's progression through the ranks since she moved to BC from Ontario a couple of years ago. Three shows, three overalls...the culmination being a very aesthetic, sculpted look for Nationals with some serious muscle added in the year since winning Provincials. Other open class winners were much improved Dana Williams (Alberta) and Dr. Alexandra Heberger (Manitoba).
Women's Master Physique Overall - Georgina D'Abreo
Georgina D'Abreo, who interestingly was the only Masters competitor who did not participate in the Open Division, took Masters Overall and was awarded a well deserved second Pro Card.
Charity Mohr - 1st Place Overall - Fitness
Six competitors total in Fitness, three per class. Kyla Ford won the short class with an energetic and athletic routine, winning the "best routine" award as well. Very photogenic Rachelle Russette (Ontario Champion) placed second as well as being chosen as a "most marketable look" winner from STATUS Fitness Magazine. Veteran competitor Gloria Mohninger placed third. In the tall class Alberta's Charity Mohr's solid routine and muscular look secured the class and Overall titles.
Philippe Lebrun - 1st Place Overall - Men's Physique
Four very competitive Open Men's Physique Classes surely made the judges' work difficult, Quebec's Philippe Lebrun taking top honors. Second Pro Card was awarded to Desrick Walcott, also of Quebec. Another Canadian Nationals has come and gone, a pleasure to cover as usual.
