2018 Emerald Cup
Bodybuilding, Physique, Fitness, Figure & Bikini Championships
(Bellevue, WA. - April 27-28, 2018)
The 36th Annual Emerald Cup saw a few tweaks in the schedule of events (for the better) and the result was two flawlessly executed days of the very best in the
region and beyond! Starting with Figure, this is not the first time Janee Deacon has been featured on this page...we marvelled at her incredible proportionality
for the sport up in Alaska at the 2017 Arctic Muscle Fest! Additional size since then and took the Overall title here. Janee also competed in Women's Physique.
Such a great contingent from Alaska at this show...more about that later. Outstanding Figure winners all around, including Charity Field and Amanda Thompson
having won overalls at previous shows, plus beautiful lines on 'G' class winner Amanda Wilson...just to name a few! 'A' Class winner Sara Michelle Taschner
also took Overall Masters Figure.
Women's Physique started with a preview of the Open Classes, as a good number of competitors were in the Masters Classes including Overall Champion Claudia Diaz,
no weak points really and clear cut first place scores. Can definitely see Nationals and/or other IFBB Pro League Qualifiers in her future! See her added feature
page below. Open 'A' Class had the
largest field and an impressive rest of the top 5 below Claudia. In a pleasant surprise (to this reporter) was the return of Heidi (Martin) Lundgren to the Emerald Cup stage
after 18 years, took 4th! There is a 'to do' list to rescan some of those old slides down the road. She also competed in Bodybuilding the following day. Tina Brown and
Amber McDonald were formidable 2nd and 3rd placers respectively. Patti Hanson took Class 'B' and Emily Knowles with a very graceful posing routine took 'C'.
Three fitness competitors with veteran Gloria Jean Mohninger taking first place.
Last but not least, Classic Physique was featured on Day 1 with Mike Cornes taking the overall. In an Alaska connection, this show marked the debut in the Junior
Class for 16 year old Shaun Clapp, whos parents are of course Shawn and Cinzia Clapp who are NPC Chairmen for Alaska, promote a number of shows their every year
and who this reporter has had the great privilege to be friends with for so many years. A proud moment for all to see Sean take the stage, an accomplished athlete
and man of many talents...no doubt we'll hear more of his endeavors in the future!
More to come as time permits and a huge thanks as always to promoters Brad and Elaine
Craig. Official results, info on all the Northwest happenings at
