2019 Emerald Cup
Bodybuilding, Physique, Fitness, Figure & Bikini Championships
(Bellevue, WA. - April 26-27, 2019)
Day 2 of the 2019 Emerald Cup featured Bodybuilding, Men's Physique and Bikini in their entirety. Starting with Bikini, the addition of a True Novice category
brought to the forefront that 'newbies' to the sport can rise to the top quickly if they come in on point...experience matters not, it's how you look on that
day and even from class to class for those entered in multiple ones. Jessica Roy had the right combination of muscle and shape to be the judges' clear choice
for Overall, but some solid entries of note including several Overall winners from past VERY competitive shows. Utah's Shannon Johns was an impressive 'H' Class
winner who along with stunning runner-up Chelsea Stonestreet were great examples of 'model looks with muscle' that could take them far in the sport
on many levels.

Men's Bodybuilding was particularly top-notch this year, some very Nationals stage ready athletes. Justin Pense took Overall.

Masters Bikini saw a 'showdown' between the lowest three age group winners in a close result. 45+ champion Laurie Fryar always comes in lean with great conditioning,
a veteran of the sport in the region. 35+ champion Myra Colcord has steadily improved her look since we originally saw her onstage at the Vancover Naturals in 2018.
Brought a tight, defined package and had won ber open class at the recent NPC Governor's Cup in California. 40+ champion Sarah Johnson, part of the '907 Muscle Girls
Team' always brings an elegant look to the stage, taking the Overall title. Some anomalies in scoring at this show with athletes also doing Open
classes where rankings reversed, but it's to some extent a fresh set of eyes and a clean start to each round so that's what can happen in a subjective sport.

Last, but definitely not least was Men's Physique. Jarell Betton only started to compete last summer but was absolutely dominant here. Likely motivated in the
sport by IFBB Pro Svetlana Shchavinskaya (they've recently married), one of the next stops for both of them could be the IFBB Vancouver Pro/Am this July. Jarell
has the makings of a Pro Physique so going out on a limb here that it'll somewhere down the road become a '2 Pro' family!
More to come as time permits and a huge thanks as always to promoters Brad and Elaine
Craig. Official results, info on all the Northwest happenings at
