2022 NPC Emerald Cup
Bikini Championships
(Bellevue, WA - April 30, 2022)
Always the highlight of the Northwest NPC competition year, the Emerald Cup just celebrated its 40th anniversary in exciting fashion! It's now in the very capable hands of Ivan and Erin Ribic, with continued advice and help of Brad and Elaine Craig. A special award honored them during Finals on Day 2, truly inspirational. On to the competition, this report covering the extensive Bikini portion. Starting with the Open classes, a strong showing as always from Kimber Buehler, gains from Bree Burton (she won her Novice
Class) got her the runner-up spot and one of the many appearances from Trisha Sarvela who had a very productive day. On to Open 'B' and a not surprising (to this reporter)
recognition from the judging panel of Tianna Weymouth, tweaking her look from her NPC Vancouver Open debut to the makings of a future Pro...and she's only 18 years old. This class was not a
cake walk, with recent overall winner Laura Ehling, veteran Melissa Monsef and Team Atlas competitor Janus Chan. As if that wasn't enough, 5th place went to impressive
Frenchie Grandmaison, a nice lean look which also netted her 1st and 2nd in her Novice and True Novice classes respectively.

Moving on to Open Class 'C', a tight race between two stunners in Jennalyn Florendo and Marlen Castellanos, both competed in Wellness the day before. Following them
was photogenic Masters (won both her classes there) competitor Kelly Carmichael-Santiago looking very comfortable onstage. Open 'D' class saw the return of Schronna Vong
after her impressive showing a week earlier at Empire Classic. It was close though for 1st with Monique Caves only a point behind. She was part of a strong contingent
representing Mecca Gym from Idaho, more below. Top 3 in this class also included Thanittha (Jasmine) Green who made quite a splash at 2021 shows, she was only 3 points
behind Schronna here so the judges were definitely split! 4th was Jessica Moskowitz, remarkable contitioning as we noted at the NPC Vancouver Open, she did Figure as
well at Emerald Cup.

Open 'E' Class was where our OVERALL Champion emerged from. Her third show this month, Amelia Brito had a nice balanced look and her presentation was spot on. The next
three spots included the Masters Overall 35+ and 40+ champions, Tylar Stephenson and Angela Gerry respectively. In between them was another standout from Team Mecca Gym,
Jessica Wahl...nice improvements over the last 2 years. Last and certainly not least was Open Class 'F', where Kaycee Cafferty (another Team Mecca Gym athlete) brought
great conditioning to the stage, taking 1st place. Aspen Ranz and Emma Herro rounded out the top 3.

The Pacific Northwest is a special place when it comes to the NPC community with everybody pitching in
to make each others' shows as successful as possible. It's a continued privilege to be able to
