2017 The GYM BCABBA Northern Classic Bodybuilding, Physique, Fitness, Figure & Bikini Championships (Fort St. John, B.C. - June 17, 2017) Celebrating it's 16th year, Fort St. John welcomed close to 70 entries to this outstanding competition! While slightly smaller in size than recent years, this show always yields competitors who make a statement at the next level. The timing of this event being the most recent leading up to Provincials is a great incentive for those from all over British Columbia to bring their best! Starting with Bikini, Vanessa Chung's beautiful proportionality combined with muscularity puts her in great company leading up to Provincials. In the extremely impressive category was our Overall Open winner Kook Kwan Moon. Anticipating quite the Provincials as this up to now unknown competitor shakes things up! Classic Physique overall winner Kyle Bron had the unenviable task of taking on Kook in the Heavyweight Bodybuilding Class. Both Bodybuilding and Classic Physique saw very entertaining and well done routines, among them Peter Mckinnon (Best Poser Award), Mike Tobiason and Malcom Warren. Turning to Women's Physique only 2 competitors, the return of Amy Humphreys (watch out Provincials) was eagerly anticipated and did not disappoint. Placing 2nd in the Open Class was Christina Kam, winning Masters and taking the Best Poser Award. Both routines were outstanding! Figure always brings someone to the forefront, in this case Overall Open Champion Kirstie Hill. What sets her apart and well suited to progress up the ladder in this sport is a solid physique reminiscent of the great Canadian figure champs such as Emily Zelinka and Melissa Bumstead. Excellent improvements on Masters winner Cathy Konst. Men's Physique always is a tough battle and the top placers in each class personified the look of the category.
