2017 NPC Northwest
Bodybuilding, Physique, Fitness, Figure & Bikini Championships
(Shelton, WA - November 11, 2017)
It's been 4 years since we've covered this event, a usually coincidental schedule with Canadian shows being the reason. Promoter Nic Younis
put together the largest show in its history this time, so definitely worth the trek down! Starting with Bikini, some very large classes in some
divisions, but the judges were up to the task! Highlights for this reporter included the Open Overall win of Canadian Diana Todd in her return to the competitive scene after a
2.5 year absence. A lot has changed over that time in terms of this category and its competitive level but Diana was up for the challenge. Having never
done an NPC show and wishing to get as much hands on stage time/experience as possible, was eligible for both True Novice and Open Classes. Most of the
competitors here did at least two classes if not three. On a side note, the option of new amateur competitive structures in Canada also means some of the shows
up there will follow NPC rules in terms of posing, etc. so we could see more Canadians participating at future USA shows to gain valuable experience as well.

Other notables in Bikini included Open Class 'C' winner Alexandra Frimu who placed 2nd in the Overall standings and Nam Wasbrekke who won her Novice, Open
and Masters Classes (Overall Masters Champion) and Tall Class winner Trista Metz. Many new faces too, including Alexis Colon and Yulia Nguyen...both part of a stellar Overall Open Comparison
round to close the show.

Figure saw Charity Field switch from bikini and a very successful move it was! Seemed shocked to win Overall, but she should not have been. Of note was runner-up in
her Open Class Samantha Kytola with nice size, proportions, etc. Her husband Hayden won Overall Classic Physique! Christie Allbritton won Masters Overall.

Women's Physique saw a very much improved Callie Collins over her previous competition, good muscle separation/size.
