2018 NPC Northwest "Young Gun Legacy"
Bodybuilding, Physique, Fitness, Figure & Bikini Championships
(Shelton, WA - November 10, 2018)
A very special show commemorating the passing of long time promoter of this and many other events Nic Younis. Known as "The Young Gun" for getting into the
business side of this industry at an early age, he's made a lasting impact on the sport and will never be forgotten. Kudos to his sister Chantal, Tonie
Williams and others who no doubt worked tirelessly to keep this event going, Nic would have been proud of the way it impeccably unfolded! On with the show...
starting with Bikini. We saw a number of competitors come to the forefront having placed well at previous shows. Of note from recent shows
we've covered were Haley Halverson and Kaylene McDonald winning their respective Novice and Open Classes and Ashley Grady. Photogenic Huyen Winzler
(18 months since her last show and greatly improved), and of course nicely balanced physiques of Ciera Brooks and Overall Champion Susann Rice!
Others to watch for down the road are newcomers Anastasia Tavare, Brooke Musseau and Lacy Healey. Veteran competitor Laurie Fryar took the Masters
Overall title.

Bodybuilding brought us a glimpse of a future pro
in Nate Ensor, has all the qualities to do very well! Orlando Moore cleaned up in the Masters category. There was only single classes in the Women's Physique
categories, but strong fields! Jessie Hunter capped off a very "on point" prejudging with an epic "Billy Jean" moonwalking routine to wow the audience at the
night show. An impressibly improved Layla Ikahihifo took the runner-up open spot as well as Masters...then there's the spitfire from Bellingham, Jessica Martin
packing quite a punch in both Physique and Figure divisions (Figure Masters Overall), took it up a notch from her Washington Ironman presentation.

There were a few crossovers between the
two categories of note, the others being Lorraine Currow and the earlier mentioned Jessie Hunter. Jessie was in the Figure 'B' Open Class along with eventual
Overall Figure Champion Lauradelle Isaacs, both hit the stage in superb condition...whoever took their class would clearly take Overall. Speaking of Lauradelle,
a tailor made look for Figure, from shoulder caps to nice muscle shapes and taper. Same for Jessie, who was of course also in Women's Physique so a bit more
of a shredded look.

Great conditioning from Aaron Braaten, dominated both Open and Masters Men's Physique.
A huge thanks to the promoters, volunteers and the dedicated competitors who keep this sport growing.
The Pacific Northwest is a special place when it comes to the NPC community with everybody pitching in
to make each others' shows as successful as possible. It's a continued privilege to be able to
cover and publicize these shows for decades now.
