2006 Sandra Wickham Fall Classic
Bodybuilding, Fitness & Figure Championships
Figure - Masters Class (Top 3)
Kelly McTaggart keeps improving - whether it's her physique or presentation on and off
stage (right down to her hair color), she's making inroads in not only the masters
class but getting noticed by the judges in the open as well. Her and Cindy Preeper
finished second and third respectively in the Medium height class! A bit about
Cindy first, she's trained by Dawn Alison
('Young' for those wanting to check out her past competitive exploits) who also did an
amazing job with Karolina Pawlak last year. One aspect of a good trainer/publicist is to
point out their star clients to the press - not that I wouldn't have noticed Cindy but
thanks Dawn for the heads up! Bindi Mackoruk was one of the busier competitors here,
competing quite well in both Masters and Open Divisions of Figure and Bodybuilding.
Back to Kelly, in her own words...
"It was a friend and fellow competitor, Maria Morrone who challenged me to
compete in the 2006 Western Canadians. It seemed like a bit of a pipe dream as I had
only been training for 6 months at the time and that was out of my home to boot. In January I decided
to commit, and joined Team Sweeney's Fit Foxes - only looking for the experience from my first
show. 4 months later I placed 1st in masters and 6th in medium and that was it, I was hooked!
I joined Heavy Metal gym, found an amazing training partner in Karm and a coach in Sandra
Wickham, trained hard and took 3rd in masters at the BCs. After some long needed off season,
I am off to the Nationals and then back to the BCs for my height class. I love this sport and
all it represents and plan on competing until they kick me off the stage."
