2022 NPC Vancouver Open
Bodybuilding, Physique, Fitness, Figure, Wellness & Bikini Championships
(Vancouver, WA - April 2, 2022)
Our first Northwest Zone NPC show coverage of the year and a great event to start us off! Promoter Wade Lowery and Shadow Productions
puts on a stellar show each year, attracting some of the best new and veteran competitors in the region. Starting the Women's report
with Bikini. There was a fair bit of overlap between classes, for example Open Class 'A', predominently featured True Novice
competitors (who also did Novice) but a good choice with great potential was that class winner photogenic Tianna Weymouth who's posing
coach is Hayley Mahdieh who placed 1st in Novice just ahead of Tianna. They ended up in different height classes for Open...which
leads us to Class 'B', where Laura Ehling of Big Iron Gym (Everett and Seattle) rose to the forefront with nice improvements from
last year and the best presentation round of the show (posing coach IFBB Pro Nam Wasbrekke)! She went on to take the Overall title.
A close battle for 2nd and 3rd between Janus Chan and Jessica Moskowitz respectively, they 'switched' placings in their True Novice
Class with Jessica taking 1st there, followed by Janus and Tianna. 4th in Open Clss 'B' was the above mentioned Hayley Mahdieh looking
much improved from her initial shows a couple years back. She's part of 'Top Gun Fitness' Team coached by IFBB Pros Lydia Prichard Taylor
and hubby Tramell Taylor. Expect a huge team from them at the Empire Classic in Spokane 3 weeks later!

Rounding out the Top 5 was Olga Para, nice proportions and good stage presence to do well in the sport! Continuing on to Open Class 'C', where Kaitlin Spencer
(married to IFBB Pro Michael Spencer) took top spot making a competitive comeback in both Bikini AND Wellness. She's part of a growing fitness community in
Lacey/Olympia, Washington where 'West Coast Fitness' is located, one of the nicest facilities in the region. Runner-up Courtney Discolo has great structure to
do well in this sport...can see Wellness as an option too! 4th Placer Lesley Miles stood out in both Bikini and Wellness, a photogenic model look and trying to
decide where she fits into the sport, perhaps a bit overlooked in judging but I'm sure we'll see her back after digesting feedback, etc. She's part of 'Team Upp Lift'
along with fellow competitor of note Kira Castro, both coached by IFBB Pro Calysta Fulcher who incidentally won Open Bikini Overall at THIS show way back in 2017!
Moving on to Open Class 'D' where Emma Herro, who's getting more polished on stage with EVERY show, took the title followed by Team Top Gun's Amilia Britto.
Nice balanced look...and expect her to do well in her next show(s). Lots more others we could mention, but let's proceed now to Figure.

Figure saw some 'unfinished business' from last year's show where standout Ivana Jungic dominated Masters but didn't tackle the Open Division...this time (and
with more shows under her belt), took that Open Class 'A' and the Overall title in fine fashion! Following Ivana in Masters 35+ was Shawna Burnett, nice proportionality and size/defintion.
She took Open Class 'C' here as well as Masters 40+ and Novice 'B'. Which brings us to another cross division competitor of note, Jessica Moskowitz out of the 'Big Iron Gym' Team.
A really superior conditioned/detailed look doing well in both Bikini and Figure, she placed 2nd to Ivana in Open Class 'A' and took the True Novice Figure Class. We'll hopefully
have more from her down the road...definitely one to watch out for!

Last but not least was the Wellness category, good Open Class representatives in Grace Lee and Susanna S. White.
Repeating what we said last year, a huge thanks to Promoter Wade Lowery, volunteers and the dedicated competitors who keep this sport growing.
The Pacific Northwest is a special place when it comes to the NPC community with everybody pitching in
to make each others' shows as successful as possible. It's a continued privilege to be able to
cover and publicize these shows for decades now. We'll have more on the show here in general as time permits.
