2018 NPC Washington Ironman Naturally Bodybuilding, Physique, Fitness, Figure & Bikini Championships (Bothell, WA - October 6, 2018) The Pacific Northwest has some of the very best promoters in the business, none moreso than Brad and Elaine Craig who've been at this for over 35 years! As part of the Fall season of shows, the Ironman is a real cornerstone of the series...6 out of 7 weekends that span Washington, Oregon and Idaho...an additional show if you include Alaska (Midnight Sun) on Nov. 17. With that in mind, there's more than a few competitors who take on more than 1 show, fine tuning and improving along the way. That was definitely the case with Bikini for starters, among those who further refined their look from just the previous week's show were Overall winner Brieann Gonczy, 'C' Class winner Talla Amini, 'A' Class winner Chelsea Clark and Novice winner Leia Meaney. Combine that with newcomers with a bright future ahead, such as the top 3 in True Novice...Kaylene McDonald, Marion Clark and Brooke Madigan. Plus veteran competitor from Alaska Ginger Johnson brought her finest look yet, winning the over 45 class AND Open Class 'D'! Rochelle Knight brought outstanding proportionality to Figure the week earlier and definitely showed the poise, presence and confidence of a champion, well deserving of her Overall win here. A good challenge in her open/masters classes from Jessica Martin who did both Figure and Women's Physique. There were a couple of noteworthy crossovers between those 2 categories, the others being Sarah Oase who took both the Open and 35+ Women's Physique classes and inspirational award winner Sarah Troske. Reprising his Overall Men's Physique title from a week earlier was Matthew Taylor. Classic Physique continues to gain popularity vs. bodybuilding, an inspirational story from Jeffrey Schneider who battled life threatening issues to get back to the stage. Speaking of bodybuilding, a great day for 50+ year old competitor Michel Kray, winning the Open and Novice overall titles and of course his age class.
