2006 Western Canadian Tested
Bodybuilding, Fitness & Figure Championships
(Kelowna, B.C. - April 29, 2006)
Extremely pleased to be able to showcase this event again. Thanks to promoter
Ian Tomlin for putting on
a well-paced event complete with rock band and opening dance number. As with so many
shows, the number of figure competitors is skyrocketing, maybe it's time to increase
the height classes in Canada. Jennifer Bursey wowed the hometown crowd,
refining her physique from the last competition and should do well at higher level
shows. As always, good photoshoot subjects were there, including Kelowna's own
Becky Habib, Vernon's Becca K and Caitlin Mulvaney, and Vancouver's
Angela Kromidas. Others will be featured in the future as this contest season
will have more of a Canadian flavour especially when it comes to Fitness
and Figure.

Turning to Bodybuilding, nice to see the return of Trasie Combes to the stage, winning
the 'Best Poser' award and the Masters Class. Roseanne Desmarais (Blackburn) is really
starting to fill out this year after having back surgery a few months ago - the recuperative
powers of being in shape really helps. Of note was almost 50 year old Audrey Prouse, trained
by TL Bartch. It must be partly genetics in Audrey's case.
Here's a photo with daughter Larissa, herself having competed back east. Kamloops' Maria
Maywood brought a lean, proportional physique, very deserving of the overall title.

To Fitness, some outstanding routines here, and a variety of physique types,
a real challenge for the judges. Jolaine Undershute had the most gymnastics
oriented routine while Christa Solomon showed confident strength moves combined
with a very proportional physique. She's from nearby Alberta and one of those
I hope to feature more of this summer. Renée Erdman, though not as lean, looked
great on stage, quite photogenic. This section will be updated as time
permits. Stay tuned...
