2000 Canadian National
Bodybuilding Championships

Friday, September 1st, 2000 - Arrived in the Alberta city of Calgary for the 39th annual
version of this prestigous competition. Headed for the host hotel and that evening's weigh-in.
The promoters Armand & Debbie Huneault took a very hands on approach and catered to the
needs of both athletes and fans, from being there for registration, arranging for meals condusive
to dieting bodybuilders to a shuttle bus service to the venue the day of the show. Cowboy hats
were the dress code of the day with competitors provided with stylish black ones for the next
evening's Parade of Athletes to open the finals. Felt right at home at the weigh-ins, having lost
count of all the current and former competitors who have graced this website. Laura, Sheila,
Jodi, Dawn, etc. Once the ball got rolling it was clear that this was going to be one quality
contest. A few sights below from Friday night.

very charming and well... armed

Middleweight competitors to the
left (one barely made her class
thanks to last minute calorie
burns). Heavyweights below
didn't have that problem.

September 2nd, 2000 - The day of the show, arrived early at the Jack Singer Concert Hall,
part of the beautiful Calgary Performing Arts Centre. The pre-judging went fairly quickly
as far as the women were concerned, as posing routines were limited to the evening
competition. Left a lot of time to hob-nob and get to know some of the athletes and
interesting spectators in attendance. Comments about the actual competition are included
in the respective pages and with the photos. Enough with the intros, click "Next Page"
to continue with the coverage.
